DSi XL
It’s only been a year since the last DS console but Nintendo are releasing another version already. You’re probably aware that the DSi XL takes all the features of the previous model including the music playing abilities, web browsing, camera, sound recording and other stuff. The main difference is the new massive screens. The Nintendo DSi XL console has screens which measure 4.2″ which is an inch bigger than the previous screens and 1.2″ inches bigger than the standard DS. Being an inch bigger might not sound like it would make a huge difference but as it is measured diagonally across the screen it actually makes a fair difference when you see it. It is the equivalent to comparing a 32″ TV with a 42″ TV and you can really see the difference when comparing those. The increase in size of the Nintendo DSi XL would be impressive under any circumstance but it’s even more impressive when you remember it is happen to two screens.
See, the DSi XL has a much bigger screen. I think you have to see it to really appreciate it.
One thing that I’ve always been jealous about when I see a PSP is the size of its screen. It seems really impressive on a portable device to see such a big screen. The PSP’s screen measures 4.3″ (0.8″ larger than an iphone). A DSi XL screen is just 0.1″ smaller than a PSP’s screen… but there are two of them! I can’t wait to see the console. In fact I’m not going to wait. Well I am but only a few weeks because I’m going to import one as it’s cheaper to import consoles than I expected. The only thing that I was interested in about the DSi was the bigger screen. With the DSi XL it is going to be very impressive, so much that I’m keeping a DSi XL blog.
It will also give me a chance to test out the R4 DSi on it. I hope it will work because I’m keen to get drawing with Colors! on the big DSi XL screens. I’ll also be able to fit more things in my Pocket Physics sketches since there is more room to play around with. The resolution of the screens on a DSi XL isn’t any higher but you can see what you’re doing with smaller objects better so it will be easy to create a lot of them on the screen. I’m sorry I’ve been rambling through this post. The main thing I wanted to say is I’m looking forward to the DSi XL console, I’m importing one and I’ve got a new Nintendo DSi XL website.
Does the DSI R4 card also fit into this one?

Hi, i am wondering if a regular R4 SDHC 8GB card would work in the new Dsi XL or would I have to buy a new R4 card and a new Memory card?

The memory card will work but you’ll need an R4i.
Got r4i and the latest firmware and i will say it does work on dsi xl in as much as it loads the games. But i haven’t found one game yet that doesn’t freeze after 10 mins or so. And thats out of 20 games tried so far.
i have a dsi xl on ver 1.4e i also have an r4i card (without the ver1.4 sticker) but i cant get it to work any tips or links for software the r4i is currently being used on a ds lite with no problems or maybe i need to buy a new r4i card?

I got my R4i 1.4 from http://www.gamesyeah.com and it worked fine out of the box. Anyone else got any results good or bad to share?

The DSi XL does not have a GBA slot, sadly. So I’ve kept my old DS to play my GBA games on!

no it doesn’t. i’m pretty disappointed because of that, but the SD-card slot is pretty awesome.
I bought the R4i gold card, loaded the software from the internet on the card. Unzipped it, put it on sd card, put a games folder and some games in it, but nothing happens, says no game in ds slot??? Have tried with the R4 too but no avail and I’m crackin up!!!! Please help,…

i got one it is not a rip off it comes with free games and a huge pen. the grapkics are great.

hi. i have the r4i upgrade ang i downloaded r4i english v1.09c. i started up my dsi and clicked on the icon but all that happened was it flashed and it stayed as a white screen.

Hi I have an r4, for ds but the software does not seem to work. I have used TT software on it which seems to work just fine but would like to know if I update to the r4i if it work on the ds and dsi xl.

dsi takes different software to a ds and a different card make sure you get an r4i v1.4 and your dsi will be up and running. i have a dsi but want a dsi xl does that run on same software as dsi

I have a DS lite with an R4 card and it will not work with the new DSi XL which I have just got.Bbut there are new cards which are not expensive that do work. I think you can update the firmware on the old R4 cards if you want to do that .

I have the Revolution R4i WiFi v1.4 which states that it works with DSi XL, but unfortunately is does not, even after a clean install. It does work with DS Lite. Shame on you R4 Revolution.

i need advice. my daughter got a burgundy dsi xl in march for her birthday we got her a dsi card and downloaded games and it works fine. my son got a yellow dsi xl for his birthday this month and again we got him a card downloaded the games but his card won’t work. I have tried my daughters card in his machine that doesn’t work yet both cards play in her machine and in the old ds’s. have they changed something in the makeup of the new coloured dsi xl’s to prevent these cards from working? and if so is there a way round it my son is very upset he’s only 6
i went to game stor and i brot dsixl and R4 to and it has 36 games and i is cool and it is like i am playing in a lap top but my brother want a dsixl and mum says no and i was ao confused that why wold she bey me but not my brothe.But she brot playstashon3 and he was all ways plays on and my mum brot me a nintendo wii and than my brothe criys about it and i am so happy that i have a nice mum like her lool.
