Wow. I already have a “DSi” so I probably won’t be getting the “DSi XL” but I hope my sisters do because it looks AWESOME! The way BIGGER screens and the bigger speekers would be perfect for elderly folk and people with “xl hands” haha. I cant wait until they bring this out! Anyway… I HIGHLY reccommend this to elderly people who still like to game and people with larger hands that find it too uncomfortable with the original “DSi”. Does Anyone know if the R4i will work on the “DSi XL”? Because i have a R4i and might be getting this to have as a second ds and use my original DSi as a backup in case anything go’s wrong. By the way, if you are thinking of getting a r4i after reading this it’s a good choice as you can download free games onto it, free movies, free e-books, free music and free music videos! but be aware that some websites can but viruses in the download. Only download things for it on http://www.r4i-sdhc.com , http://www.games-engine.com and http://www.ndsr.net The R4i is brilliant but be aware that you cannot update your dsi until they bring out a new update for the r4i that will work with that DSi version. I got a new DSi yesterday. “not my first”. What i mean is that my DSi’s L button wouldn’t work for over half a year so I brought it back to the shop with my guarentee to get it swapped for a new one! ! I was really happy as my old DSi had some scratches, over 100 crappy pictures that i didn’t have the patience to delete and… oh nevermind… Anyway what am i doing, writing my lifetime story? or even worse… a blog?… I got to go now. . If you have any faq’s you will probably find the answers on the internet somewhere… If you can’t find the answers then e-mail me the question/s and I will try and get back to you with the answers if I can within maybe a day or two. hi, I have a Dsi and an R4i

I can play games, download music, videos and all but only know that after I put a game in my r4, I plug it out off the computer, put it in my Dsi and loaded it but after seeing the sign LOADING, it turned into a white screen and got stuck there, can anyone help me?

Hi, Since yesterday my son has a DSI XL. The R4i card which we used before on our DSI, doesn’t work anymore.
We get an error that we need to restart. It seems we cannot use it anymore. Me and my 7-year old son will be extremely gracefull if someone could help us.

Hi I have the r4 and a ds lite, the card works fine and i am considering trading in my ds lite to get the ds xli, can someone please tell me if the r4 will work in the ds xli? i have done search after search and there are so many variations of the r4 now i am getting really confused!!! mine is the black witht eh silver writing on it! got it ages ago and dont understand all the different variations now! any help would be great!

Hi both my sons wanted to upgrade there ds lites dsixl which they did with birthday money! both had r4 cards i found out i had to buy new r4 cards to be compatible with the dsixl so i bought them the r4i cards downloaded the firmware ect and it worked in both the ds lites and the dsixl which was fantastic!!! But sadly few months back both dsixl when r4i cards were placed in them came up with an error message saying ‘an error has occurred. press and hold the power button to turn off system. please refer to the nintendo dsi operation manual for details’. both dsixls went like this within a week of each other. i have tried downloading other kernels but still get the same message! please help its driving me mad!!

We had an error on ours and just had to go into the date settings and set the date back to the start of the year – it worked perfectly then. A few months later, same error, same fix and works fine again.

Hi had the same problem “system error message”?? Try putting the ds’s calendar back a few years. Worked for us, good luck!

you can try downloading ‘r4i wood’from certain sites or if you had it working ,have you tried putting the calender back by 5 months.had errors on my sons dsi and put the calender back by a few months and worked a treat

hi all i have had the same problem with my sons new dsixl i believe its because he tried to go online and the card has been blocked and as far as i can tell its a new card. I even got the card that said dsi xl upgrade.

any further comments welcome.

i bought new ds xl for grandson , was advised to get R4i card , put it in and switch on all i get is error , do i need a firmware update fot the card or will i need a new card compatible with the new ds xl

Hi I have same problem as Karen just upgraded my son’s dsi to a dsi xl and r4i won’t work had read comments before and felt reassured that would i have r4i card in red box put card in and says error need to restart etc any solutions or is it a new card?

yeah, the prob with r4i’s for the dsixl is that the dsixl’s automatically update eachother causing the r4i’s not to work. even if u have no internet connection, if a dsixl gets close enough in range of another dsixl which has the update it will download it from that dsixl. so pretty much, the dsixl is r4i proof.

TAKE THE CHIP OUT OF THE CARD AND BLOW THEN PUT IT BACK IN THE CARD

To all those who are wondering about the DS r4 card I’m a p.c technician and i will say the r4i the r4 will NOT work on the dsi XL if you ever get a message saying an error has occurred blease restart and refer to your DS manual that means the new firmware on the DS has been updated and they fixed flash cards I’m going to buy the new r4i sdhc v 1.41 update tht is for the DS will let you know if it works hope this helps

We had a DSI XL which worked perfectly with our R4i card. Then the DSI XL broke and we replaced it with a brand new one, but now this one won’t work. I think maybe the system on this one is more updated than the last. Has anyone fixed this problem? The R4 card still works perfectly on our old DS Lite.

I have a DSXL and have used a R4i revolution card was working perfectly till recently when i noticed a problem with LOADING ” please check date and time on the system” and I have checked and edited the date and time but still didn’t improve so I Have made a mistake in updating the DSXL system now it made things worst the R4i would not load kept getting Error switch off and check manual ;
What have I done and What can I do

we have a fire link card and that doesnt work on dsi xl – does anyone know how to fix it or what to replace it with – thanks

You can buy an R4i for the DSi XL. I have one. And… you shouldn’t do the system update! It won’t read the um, you know, the card.

Have bought an r4i card for my sons dsi. Every thing was fine for a week but now when you turn it on a red (sim card type) icon saying “menu?” comes up on the top screen. Anyone any ideas??
