Below are the games and applications taking part in our R4 DS Homebrew Contest. A lot of time and effort has gone into creating each of them. They are given out to us for free. Now it’s your chance to reward whoever you think is the most deserving of taking a share of the $500 prize and being recognised in our chart as the best DS Homebrew.

To vote for up to 3 pieces of software, simply leave a comment in the following format.

The Top 10 R4 DS Homebrew Chart will be compiled based on the number of points received for each piece of software.
You are encouraged to try as many of the games and apps as you can before casting your votes.
Votes/comments will not be displayed immediately but all approved votes up to a certain point will be published occasionally. Check back here for updates on how the voting is going.
You are welcome to encourage friends and web users to vote for whoever you like but multiple votes per household are not allowed. Without giving too much away, I have several ways of checking for cheats. Cheating can cause disqualification.

I’d like to make my DS with R4 more useful, and the tools I listed offered me more chances to reach this goal. I like drawing and Colors! becomes my most useful pen. And I like music,too. That’s what NitroTracker meant to me. Thx a lot for the guys who made these programmes!!!

Colors was an amazing feat, being one of the first to use pressure sensitivity, and it’s always felt right, not to mention the great playback feature and gallery. Animanatee builds off of Colors as well as mix in some classic animation programs like Mario Paint, and of course I’m happy to have any animation software for the DS. And I just plain like the Mario Paint Composer
Photoshop! You mean “like a portable Gimp” right? And I thought Phidias bore a closer resemblance. Colors isn’t like Gimp or Photoshop, but it is one of the best apps out there.

… but there are a dozen other homebrews that I love as well (trackers, puzzles, …). Man, I love the homebrew scene. I don’t even touch pirated games, there’s no need!

1) Colors! DS – its a brilliant application, like a portable canvas – you can control pressure and create amazing images on the go!
2)Nitro Tracker – its a portable deck-set and you can blast out some pretty sweet tunes and upload your music for people to hear!
3)Animatee – great for making on the go animations, if you got something on your mind -scribble it down
